What Is WIC?
Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Food and Nutrition Program
WIC stands for Women, Infants, and Children and is also called the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program. The United States Department of Agriculture(USDA) funds this food and nutrition program for pregnant, postpartum or breastfeeding women, babies and children under five years old who may be eligible for this program.
What foods does WIC give?
WIC provides foods that are good sources of many needed nutrients. They include:
National nutrition studies show that good nutrients are often low in the diets of some women and children. One of WIC’s goals is to help increase these nutrients in the diets of clients, therefore promoting health.
