Breastfeeding
The WIC Program and the American Academy of Pediatrics supports breastfeeding as the preferred method of infant feeding during the first six months to one year of life. Our staff provides education and support for those who chose to breastfeed. A breastfeeding peer counselor, nutritionist, or a nurse can help you achieve your goal. We would like you to enroll in the WIC Prgram if you qualify. You may call Daphne, our peer counselor directly at 828-964-0171, or you may call your county WIC office and leave a message from 8:00AM to 4:45PM, Monday - Friday. There is no charge for breastfeeding counselor services.
- What we offer includes:
- Peer Breastfeeding Counselor Services
- Home visits as needed
- Breastfeeding literature
- Breast pump loan program
- Book loan program
- Breastfeeding classes
- Vitamin D drops for exlusively breastfed infants
- Breastfeeing supplies
If you have any breastfeeding questions please contact Daphne at daphnet@apphealth.com or call your local WIC Office.
